Well… i dont know about that but it very well could happen. Since the inception of the X-Games (17yrs ago for summer 15yrs for winter) action sports has been thrown into the mainstream of america and majority of the international world. Making professional careers of all sorts practical, athletes, camera crews, lighting, on-camera talent, music directors all composed of a younger, “extreme” generation.
Not everyone is a team sports kind of person and the X-Games is the defining competition for most athletes in the action sports world(save the snowboarders who get to compete in the olympics… new school skiing is not yet in the Olympic Games). Over the years i know i have not become the only one who waits for the 4-day weekend broadcasts in the summer and winter….why? one word: INNOVATION
The level of athleticism and possession of large cojones (men and women) allows us, the un-gifted viewers to see amazing feats of human strength,determination and spirit.. broadcast straight to our living room. The X-Games are one of the highest grossing athletic competitions in the world, through sponsors, corporate affiliates and devoted fans it has created an action sports empire, and the future of sport…..
